Years 7 to 9 are where maths confidence is made or lost. I help students build solid foundations, fill the gaps from primary school and arrive at GCSE ready, not worried.
Gaps from primary school or lockdown years that keep tripping them up.
A new school working at a different pace or level, and grades have dipped.
Doing well and ready for a challenge before GCSE begins.
Lessons follow the National Curriculum and your child's school topics, and your personal plan maps out when each topic is taught.
Every lesson has a clear purpose, and you'll get a written progress update every six weeks so you always know how things are going.
See Example Plans →The free lesson shows exactly which topics are secure and which are shaky, including things that should have been learnt years ago.
We fix the foundations first. Rushing ahead on weak basics is why so many students struggle at GCSE.
We work alongside what your child is doing at school, so lessons help with homework and tests too.
Lots of small wins, explained in more than one way, until maths stops feeling scary.
A Year 9 student started lessons with me in November 2024. She'd just changed schools, and the new school worked at a much higher level than she was used to. Her grades dipped sharply, and as her mum pointed out, it wasn't her fault.
We started by finding the exact gaps, then rebuilt them one topic at a time, explaining each idea in different ways until it clicked. If an answer was wrong, we worked out why together. No sighs, no rushing.
One honest lesson for me: our 90-minute sessions "fried her brain" at first, in her mum's words. So we switched to an hour, which worked much better for her. Every student is different, and the plan changes to fit them.
Since then, her confidence in maths has grown enormously.
“Our daughter's confidence towards Mathematics has increased greatly and definitely because of Ibrahim's ability to impart the knowledge.”Amanda M., her mum
Unlike her mainstream school where the tutor would only give one way of explaining how to reach the correct answer, Ibrahim uses many varied ways of explaining how to get to that conclusion.
He explains concepts clearly, is very patient and honestly has really helped boost her confidence and understanding.
I've never heard a cross word or impatient tone, he never rushes her… Even if her answer is incorrect he's never said 'No, that's wrong!'
Nothing upfront, one monthly invoice, no contracts.
Not at all. Year 7 is the best time to fix gaps, because each new topic builds on the last. A little support now saves a lot of stress at GCSE.
Yes. We follow your child's school topics where it helps, and I always check homework and anything they're finding hard in class.
Usually 90 minutes, but for younger students we often start with 60 minutes and build up. We'll agree what suits your child.
