How to Get the Most From a Planner

  1. 1
    Choose the Topics First

Use the free revision checklist for your exam board. Mark each topic Not Yet (red), Nearly (amber) or Confident (green), then write the red and amber topics into the planner.

  2. 2
    Little and Often

Two 25-minute sessions a day beat one long session. Short, focused sessions with the phone in another room work best.

  3. 3
    Do Questions, Not Just Notes

Reading notes feels productive, but answering exam questions and checking them is what builds marks.

  4. 4
    Check In, Don't Check Up

A five-minute chat at the end of the week about what went well is more motivating than watching over every session.

Good Revision and Busy Revision

Making colourful notes for hoursDoing exam questions, then checking with the mark scheme
Only revising topics you already likeStarting with red topics, little and often
Doing a past paper and not marking itMarking it and redoing every question that lost marks
